I wrote about my experience at a fish store a couple days ago - and I've written about my pleco before - so I thought I'd post a couple pictures of my fish tank and my pleco that I took today. My pleco completely freaks me out because I think he looks like he's from another planet - so I think it's lucky that I hardly ever see him/her. The only reason why I saw him yesterday was because I had almost completely stripped down my tank to nothing because of the problems I've been having - so he's had no where to hide. But as you can tell from the first picture here - as of today, everything is back to normal - the rocks are all back in and all the plants are back on the bottom of the tank - so I won't be seeing Mr pleco again for awhile.
Isn't he just the freakiest thing? He's getting really big too - he's probably at least 3 inches long now, and he's going to just continue to grow - he's eventually going to outgrow my tank - they can be 12 inches long, anyway - I would die if I saw him grow that big in my tank! I'm getting the heebeejeebies just thinking about it! He almost always stays along the back glass area out of site. My tank is only 20 gallons and now is back to be absolutely beautiful - but for some reason had gone completely cloudy in the last few weeks for no reason at all, except for the fact that I'd changed the rocks in it - so I don't know if it had decided to re-cycle because I'd taken out too much good bacteria, or what - but I've changed all the media and put in some medication to take out the silt, and it worked. ALthough I HATE using chemicals except for Melafix - and I hardly ever use even that. I think that's why I've been so successful at keeping fish alive and healthy and had so many babies.
I love my fishes.
I've got one of those guys too, and I hardly ever see him. Not the most attractive bottom-feeders, are they?
