Never Shock a Puppy & Be the Change 4 Animals

Mindless surfing today has given me some good stuff - there's an online campaign callled "Be the Cause 4 Animals" - and they aim to bring bloggers and people with websites together weekly to promote people who have causes so that together "like-minded folks with a strong, collective voice" can "ignite and accelerate the change" faster than the change we could "make as individuals"

It sounds pretty good to me - especially since this week's cause is by a website and cause called "Never Shock a Puppy" - and shock and prong collars are a HUGE bug-a-boo for me and a lot of my friends. I have personally been completely crucified on some boards for speaking out about prong collars - and have been told point blank by pit bull owners that putting prong collars on their dogs is "part of their culture".

That is just so wrong on so many levels.

My favourite dog trainer has written very articulately about why they prong and shock collars are bad. She has a very good line in her post - when talking about shock collars and the fact that people think that dogs don't connect the shock to the people giving the shocks - she says "don’t kid yourself. Your dog knows that you’re the abuser."

Of course Be The Change 4 Animals and Never Shock the Puppy both have Facebook pages that you can subscribe to and stay updated with - so click on these links if you'd like to do that!
